The Forgotten Civilians...
It seems that the only help that Civilians who perished in the World Trade Center are getting are from the Families of the Fire Department.
Page 52 of the November 16, 2001 Daily News, it is reported that 31 Million dollars in donations will be sent to the Families of the Uniformed personnel killed on September 11 by next week. This is in addition to 8.3 million already distributed last Friday to 73 families.
To date most of the funds raised for ALL families are still being held by the Charitable Organizations including the Red Cross. Despite the Red Cross' statement that all of the Liberty Fund will be sent to the families of this tragedy, many of these Families have yet to receive any help. Including one Family of Give Your Voice, who was turned away by the Red Cross and told to go to a Buddhist Organization for assistance.
Page 17 of the November 17, 2001 Daily News article concerning the City's Bravest, it concludes by stating that there will be a Family assistance unit for the Families of the Fire Department.
To date there is no Unit designed to assist Families of Civilians other than the Pier, which has been a horrible experience for most Families. Nor is there any liaison in the Mayor's Office to offer information regarding any assistance. To date most of the information Civilian Families receive is from the Media and close Friends in the Fire Department.
So, who will be helping Civilian Families?…Download our letter and mail it to our Public Officials and ask them personally.
